Neighborhood Groups
A "program" describes an issue that this neighborhood addresses by having a committee, task force or events to focus on this area of concern.
Community Outreach, led by Gloria DeCuir-Robert, coordinates FGNA activities with community entities that assist the neighborhood in reaching its goals. We are working with the Dillard University CDC and DSCEJ, Parkway Partners, levees.org., GCIA, etal. We also partner with the Burbank Gardens Neighborhod Assn, which is part of City Planning’s “St. Anthony” Neighborhood.

Organic program to determine and reduce blight; to develop a continuously updated map of property status in OUR neighborhood. This project method was first introduced to FGNA by Dr. Quintus Jett of Tucks U. (Dartmouth); currently new profiles/maps used by Lakewood Beacon of Hope (http://www.lakewoodbeacon.org) are utilized. The info obtained may be used to expedite the efforts of the city’s code enforcement staff to eliminate blight, and will assist in defining those programs/resources that best suit the recovery and development goals of Filmore Gardens.
