MOISHE NOLA – A Broadmoor house supporting the young professional Jewish community with a mission to spark meaningful relationships, creative expression and social action for the purpose of enhancing the city of New Orleans.
Moishe House is located in the heart of the city, Broadmoor. This is a deliberate decision that aims to tie the neighborhood’s rich Jewish history and current revitalization needs into the values of the Moishe House. New Orleans needs every resident to be an active civic participant, and the Moishe House will answer this call to action.

Moishe NOLA Presents the Broadmoor Harvest Festival
WHAT:
Moishe NOLA will hold a week-long community festival on the grounds of the Rosa Keller Library in the Broadmoor neighborhood to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot and its values of community, housing, harvest and thanksgiving within the greater context of New Orleans rebuilding.
The Broadmoor Harvest Festival will consist of several events over the period of a week between Sunday, October 12th and Sunday, October 19th. These will include a Sukkah Build and Arts Collaborative October 12th, at which local artists and volunteers will build and contribute to the creative design of the 32’ x 16’ Sukkah that will remain of the Rosa Keller Library for the duration of the holiday of Sukkot. Art created at the event will be donated to the rebuilt Rosa Keller Library.
Midweek events will include a screening of the documentary Shalom Y’all, followed by a discussion with filmmaker Brian Bain about this movie that chronicles the Jewish experience in the American South, and a vegetarian Shabbat dinner in the Sukkah, to which Moishe NOLA requests that participants bring a vegetarian dish (no meat, chicken, or fish) or beverage to share.
The fourth and final event will be an all-day celebration of neighborhood, harvest, and hospitality.
In the morning, Broadmoor’s Free Church of the Annunciation will be providing volunteers working on rebuilding a Broadmoor home with a hot breakfast, tools, and eye protection. Participation is subject to availability. Moishe NOLA requests that interested volunteers register their names contact information at as soon as possible.
This event will segue into an afternoon of neighborhood festivities, including remarks by local leaders of the Jewish and Broadmoor communities, arts, a barbecue, and live music by the local Panorama Jazz Band.
This Festival is supported by the Hurricane Relief Committee of Congregation Bnai Israel of Baton Rouge, the Broadmoor Improvement Association, the Neighborhood Partnership Network, AVODAH, and NOLA YURP, as well as Moishe NOLA members, local artists, and Festival participants.
