Local Youths need for Grant Making Advisory Board
NEW ORLEANS — A call for nominations has been issued for local middle and high school age students to serve on the Gulfsouth Youth Action Fund Youth Advisory Board, a new youth initiative involving local youth in grant making and policy shaping.
A panel of up to 30 middle school and high school age students will process and award grants from $500 to $5000 to youth-serving/youth-led organizations engaged in Gulf Coast recovery and other youth-related issues throughout the Greater New Orleans region.
Members of the Youth Advisory Board participate in monthly training sessions to learn skills pertaining to leadership, reading and writing grants, advertising, interviewing techniques and more. The first award is expected to be disbursed in October.
Nominations for the Youth Advisory Board are being accepted through Friday, September 14. They may be forwarded to gyafnomination@thegyac.orgor faxed to (504) 599-5979.
Individual youth, unincorporated youth groups, 501C3 organizations and faith-based organizations may apply to this Fund by forwarding a letter of intent to info@thegyac.orgby September 28, 2007.

Arts Council of New Orleans May 15th deadling for arts grants
March 12, 2007, New Orleans, LA —- Arts grants are available for arts activities to take place in Orleans, Jefferson, and Plaquemines Parishes. Applications are now being accepted for grants through the Louisiana Decentralized Arts Funding Program made possible with state funds through the Louisiana Division of the Arts and the Community Arts Grants program made possible with funds from the City of New Orleans. Grants will be accepted in the Operating Support, Project Assistance and Technical Assistance categories. The Arts Council looks forward to the NEW on-line submissions that will be accepted through May 15, 2007. (more…)
