Throughout the month of November, participating P.3 venue, The Ogden Museum of Southern Art (925 Camp Street) will host Digital Youth Storytellers, a series of educational storytelling and animation workshops in conjunction with Prospect, Big Class and NOVAC. These workshops will be held on Saturdays, November 1, 8, 15, 22 as well as December 6, from 1 – 4 PM.
Focusing on place, memory and history, Digital Youth Storytellers will examine Jean-Michel Basquiat's paintings about New Orleans and the South in the exhibit Basquiat and the Bayou Presented by the Helis Foundation. Students will reflect on memory, historicity, and iconography in Basquiat's work and, in connecting that work to their own lives, will create poetry, personal histories, and an animated movie. Registration is required and participants can register by visiting www.bigclass.org, www.ogdenmuseum.org or by contacting Ellen Balkin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
